Soldier and Unit Performance Readiness Models

MOMRP Task Area: G

Soldier and Unit Performance Readiness Models

Problem

The rate of military operations is increasing exponentially and units must maintain their combat readiness through extensive field exercises. Senior military leaders and planners must predict the impact of high operational tempo (OPTEMPO) and personnel tempo (PERSTEMPO) on soldier and unit readiness, and implement effective intervention strategies. However, they currently lack valid predictive tools and baseline data necessary to measure the effectiveness of possible intervention strategies.

Medical Research Solution

Collect data in the operational environment to systematically assess the impact of high OPTEMPO and PERSTEMPO on soldiers and units, and families. Develop quantitative models that include numerous military outcome measures (such as unit readiness ratings, retention, soldier physical and psychological health), which predict the impact of OPTEMPO/PERSTEMPO.

Products

Valid predictive models that link environmental, social-psychological, and mission variables to military readiness measures such as unit performance, retention and sick call rates.
